JAMAICA COVID-19 WATCH: Super job by our civil Parish Judge

At least at one court, within the corporate area there is confirmation that one senior Parish Judge feared what may seem to be biological warfare to assist with a select number of cases.
The very brief sitting on Thursday March 26th, 2020 seemed somewhat impromptu as the staff initially advised persons coming to the Court that no court would have been in session.
However, it was easier said than done, as it was evident that there were still some persons who might not have seen the broadcasted orders of the Prime Minister.
So as persons milled outside the courthouse at Sutton Street to capitalise on persons who might have needed assistance, the Parish Judge at least at Sutton Street made herself available to reduce the frustration vented by litigants. Seniors were not allowed to enter in keeping with strict measures to not encourage over 75-year-olds to be on the streets.
Yet, in an act of bravery the senior parish judge, a few good police officers and the sacrificing staff workers present assisted those in attendance to at least be adjourned in their cases formally. Incidentally, Parish Courts across the island have been shut since Monday.

This will have even better benefits as it will at least put a dent in the possible problems that can result from the many cases since Monday March , 202 put on hold to at least June. In June a backlog looms as new cases along with those that should have been heard since Monday.
Several landlords were heard muttering threats to take the law into their hands. at least with another court date, they are relaxed with hope that their cases have advanced by at least another date.
